Sure, most visitors reach the top with little effort, simply by following the winding Summit Road to its end. But that’s no fun…instead, ambitious hikers starting at Mitchell Canyon Staging Area in Mount Diablo State Park can reach the summit by way of an arduous but extremely scenic 13.2-mile loop.
