Campground Review: Whistler RV Park & Campgrounds (Whistler, BC)

We head to Whistler for a ski trip every winter. After buying our new trailer we thought it would be great to take it up north to extend our skiing season and have Spring Break in British Columbia. In the winter and during the snow it can be a little harder to find campgrounds that are open, but the Whistler RV Park & Campgrounds is open year round for trailers and RVs and we made our reservation.

2017-03-25_15-59-45_218The campground is located south of Whistler near Brandywine Falls Provincial Park. It is a short 18km drive to the village making this a great place to drop anchor for a few days while still having the convenience of town close by while providing plenty of outdoor activities in the area.

The campground offers two rates for RV spots during the year: 1 May-1 October is $55 + taxes per night (CAD) and 1 October-1 May is $43 + taxes per night (CAD). This covers you for 2 adults, 2 kids and includes WiFi and showers/toilets. Tent spots are available May 1-Sept 30 at $29.50 + taxes per night 2017-03-27_17-11-42_948(CAD). All tent sites have picnic tables and fire-pits and are set back in the forested area of the grounds. Summer time is the busy season here and you will need reservations to secure a place as they book out months in advance.

The park offers lots of ammenities during the summer months: Paintball, frisbee and wiffel golf, and horsebackriding are among the most popular. We were not able to take advantage of most of these activities with the amount of snow still on the ground at the time of our visit. We saw lots of snowmobiles in the park also and there are trails for adventures on the “sleds” from the campground. We made it to Base II in 20 minutes from the campground for a day of skiing too.

If you camp in the winter months be prepared for snow! While there was no snow in the forecast during our stay we arrive to some snow still on the ground and a few days later woke up to a couple of inches with more falling. We were here for skiing so this was welcome, but you will want to make sure you have 4-wheel drive and snow tires because the road up to the campground is steep and windy. The road is plowed and maintained but it can still 2017-03-27_17-12-49_292be slick and it is always best to be prepared.

The staff was very friendly and helpful and we loved our stay here and would highly recommend the campground to others who would like to stay in the area! Check them out!
